TOXICROP Peru 2019 Campaign

OCTOBER – NOVEMBER 2019

In representation of TOXICROP and its coordinating entity, CIIMAR, the coordinator of the project, Alexandre Campos accompanied by Flávio Oliveira departed on an auspicious campaign to Peru that counted with the essential support of the University of San Agustin de Arequipa (UNSA). During the campaign several sampling activities were carried out, namely at the Aguada Blanca and El Pañe reservoirs, but also on other smaller reservoirs and irrigation channels in the vicinity of the city of Arequipa, Chili river and adjacent agricultural areas. In addition to these, other activities were also carried out such as:

  • TOXICROP presentation session which counted with approximately 150 participants;
  • Practical training sessions;
  • Meetings and networking activities;
  • Visit to SEDAPAR drinking water station;

The TOXICROP team also organized two seminars:

  1. Environmental Contamination by Cyanotoxins and Effects in Plants by Alexandre Campos
  2. LEGEcc – Blue Biotechnology and Ecotoxicology Culture Collection: Isolation, Cultivation and Some Application by Flávio Oliveira
